What it is

inputprobe: the homepage
inputprobe provides browser-based measurement tools for input devices including mice, keyboards and game controllers. Each tool measures specific device performance metrics: the mouse tester checks buttons, detects double-clicking, and measures real DPI and report rate; the keyboard tester tracks every key press, rollover and re-press timing; the gamepad tester visualizes controller input across buttons, sticks and triggers; and a reaction time test measures user response speed. All measurements run locally in the browser with no accounts, uploads or server-side processing required.
Every tool follows the principle of quoting the evidence behind its verdict, refusing to print a number when the capture is insufficient rather than guessing. The site emphasizes that results are based on individual device reports with their own timestamps, not frame-counted measurements that would confuse mouse polling rate with monitor refresh rate. The tools are designed to show what input devices are actually reporting, independently of manufacturer software.

Quick answers
How do I test my mouse?
Start by moving the pointer over the box to see the report rate, then click to check for switch faults. For specific issues, run the double click test if clicks are doubling, the button test if a button feels dead or sticky, or the DPI test if cursor speed doesn't match specifications.
How do I find out if my mouse is double-clicking on its own?
Click in the test box a few times; a gap under 25 milliseconds between a release and the next press is flagged immediately. The double click test shows your fastest and most recent gaps, plus your deliberate double-click speed.
What is my mouse's DPI?
The DPI test measures it against a bank card or sheet of paper, both of which have sizes fixed by international standards so no ruler is needed. If you want the number your mouse is set to, the guide lists where each brand's software shows it.
Why does the report rate show '-' sometimes?
The rate is only printed when the capture is steady enough to support it. Short or hesitant movement doesn't contain enough evidence, so the readout refuses to guess. Move the mouse continuously for about a second and the number appears.
Does this upload anything?
No. Every measurement runs in your browser and never leaves your machine. There are no accounts, uploads or server involved in any measurement.
