Nothing breaks. Monthly active users, egress and function invocations above your plan are billed on top as overage charges rather than cutting access. The free plan is capped instead so it never produces an unexpected bill.

Can I change plans later?

Yes, you can change plans at any time. Moving between paid plans applies immediately, while moving back to the free plan applies at the end of the current cycle.
