Dashboards can be shared as links, embedded in websites, or exported to PDF and Excel. The platform features row-level security on paid plans, allowing different viewers to see only authorized data, and includes version history with 10 restore points per dashboard. ChartBase offers free and unlimited viewers on all plans, charging only for editors who build and modify dashboards.

What data sources can ChartBase connect to?
ChartBase accepts CSV and Excel files by upload. For databases, it connects directly to PostgreSQL, MySQL, and SQL Server, including managed services like Supabase, Neon, and RDS. Database connections can be refreshed on a schedule so dashboards stay current without manual re-uploading.
What is included in the free plan?
The free plan includes 5 dashboards, 5 datasets, one database connection, and 100 MB of storage, with no credit card required. The free plan does not expire.
How does row-level security work?
Row-level security filters the actual data by group before results are returned, not just hiding charts. Each group has rules defining which rows it can read, so a regional manager viewing the dashboard sees only their region's data and no other.
Can dashboards be embedded in external products?
Yes. Pro includes one embedded dashboard; Team removes that limit. Embeds are metered by monthly load rather than by viewer. Team and Enterprise can sign parameters into the embed token so the embedding site controls which rows each user sees.
Do I need to know SQL to use ChartBase?
No. Charts are built by dragging fields into wells and table relationships are drawn on a canvas. For calculated fields, a formula language with full documentation is available, and AI can write formula drafts from plain-English descriptions.
