Borehole analyzes code repositories to provide technical due diligence reports with 106 checks across seven dimensions, showing every finding with its evidence
What it is

Borehole: the homepage
Borehole reads a repository's git history and working tree to produce technical due diligence reports for software acquisitions. It runs 106 automated checks across seven dimensions including architecture, engineering process, organization risk, product maturity, security, observability, and acquirer fit. Every finding includes evidence from specific commits, files and line numbers. For private repositories, the collector runs on the customer's own machine and sends only facts and short excerpts up to 120 characters, never whole files. Free surveys are available for public repositories; paid reports support private repositories for 30 days.

Quick answers
What does hiring a person cost?
Hiring a person costs €12,000+ and the total price is determined per engagement with travel billed at cost. The scope depends on how many repositories and systems, how long the work takes, and whether it is on site or remote. You agree a written scope and price before any work starts.
What is the difference between a Report and hiring a person?
A Report costs €249 (launch price; €499 after launch) and provides 30 days of surveys on private or public repositories with checks and questions for the live system. Hiring a person gets what a repository does not contain: the running system, the team, and the contracts.
How many targets does one Report cover?
One Report covers any number of public repositories and one private target for 30 days from the first survey. A private target adds your Report key to its own account. Each further private target needs a Report of its own.
Does Borehole read or keep my private code?
Borehole never clones a private repository. The collector reads it on your machine and sends only facts and short excerpts of up to 120 characters where a check matched. You can run it with --dry-run to see exactly what would be sent before anything is transmitted.
What if the report is wrong or not enough?
We refund the order in full on request within 30 days when a report has no finding with evidence, read too little of the history for your purpose, or is not what was described. Write to billing@borehole.dev. A re-run on the same commit is always free.
