About Search Engines & Browsers
Every route onto the web, ranked in one place. This category collects the products and businesses people use to find things and to get there: search engines, private search tools, web browsers, and the new tab and start pages that sit in front of them. Some are built for everyone. Others do one narrow job, such as searching a single site, a company's own documents or a niche corner of the web.
Listings appear newest first by default. Sort by community votes and the order changes; votes can never be bought. The page covers the category and all its subcategories, with filters to narrow the rows. When you compare, check what each tool does with your queries and browsing data, how well it works on the devices you already own, and whether it fits the way you work. Founders with a product here can submit at /submit.

Search Engines & Browsers: questions answered
- What belongs in Search Engines & Browsers?
- Anything whose main job is finding information or getting you onto the web. That means general and specialist search engines, privacy-first search, desktop and mobile browsers, and tools that replace your new tab or home page. Extensions that only tweak a page usually fit better elsewhere.
- How do I choose between search engines and private search?
- Start with what you care about. Pick a search engine subcategory if result quality, filters or specialist coverage matter most. Pick private search if you want fewer trackers and less stored history. Read each profile for how queries are handled, then compare the rows side by side.
- How do I get my product listed in this category?
- Submit at /submit: paste your website address, an AI drafts the profile from that site, and you check and edit every field before anything goes live. You choose one main category, included free. A paid launch costs $5; a free listing joins a queue of about 1-2 weeks.
- My product is both a browser and a start page. Can it appear twice?
- Each listing has exactly one main category, chosen when you submit. If your product straddles two areas, a paid upgrade adds more categories for $5, so it can also be found under the second heading. Choose as your main category the one that describes the core product.
- What should I compare when looking at browsers?
- Look at which devices and systems the browser runs on, how it treats tracking and saved data, whether it syncs across your devices, and how it handles extensions. Then check the product description for what the team says it is built for, and sort by votes to see what the community rates.
